RSVP NOW for 5/28 Away Swim Meet
Please visit http://redfield.swimtopia.com/swim_meets and RSVP NOW for our 5/28 Swim Meet at DeerBrooke Waters at 5:30pm (5106 Brooke Farm Drive, Dunwoody, 30338)
We ask that you complete both the swimmer RSVP, as well as sign up to volunteer one shift per family at the meet -- unless you have Paid-to-Play this season.
Meet Structure
Your child will most likely (but not always) be in two or more individual events and POSSIBLY one relay at each swim meet. The number of events per child MAY increase based on your child's ability to legally swim a stroke and the team's need to fill events. 6andUnder kiddos may only swim in one event, depending on their ability.
When you RSVP, please note your child's preferred strokes and whether your child (not you:) is willing and able to "swim up" an age category, if needed. (Especially important for boys 9/10 and older.) Coaches will do their best when making lineups/heat sheets to make each meet a fun experience for your child, but also give the team the best chance for a win. Please remember, this is a sport.
Kids have questions during the meet... see Cara. She will always be on the pool deck behind the starting blocks with the crazy Sun Devil headband. Parents have questions during the meet... find Missy. She will be the parent volunteer coordinator for all meets and roaming the meets making things work!
Deadlines are critical
Do your best to RSVP ON TIME and attend meets. Last minute substitutions cause major stress and havoc at the meets. All swimmer RSVPs must be entered on our website NO LATER THAN 8pm the Friday before each meet.
Sportsmanship: Monkey See, Monkey Do
Heat sheets/lineups will go out to the parents the night before each meet. If you are unhappy with your child's events, please DO NOT voice your concerns at the meet and remember this is not Dynamo -- it's summer rec swim and it's supposed to be a blast. Nine chances out of 10 -- if you are excited about your child's meet events -- he/she will follow your lead. So let's remember to set a good example for our kiddos with exemplary sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
*Remember to bring googles, swim cap, towel, cover up and cash. It's good "joo joo" to purchase concessions at away meets. This is how swim clubs fund their activities. And bringing alcohol is frowned upon. Just be smart ya'll, and have fun.
**Remind your kiddos they are representing Redfield. Be kind and keep their hands to themselves. No wrestling, towel slapping or roughhousing. It's easy to get hurt when everything is slippery.
