Redfield Swim/Dive: Important info for this week
Hi Swim Team parents – and Happy Mother’s Day!
Just a few headlines before our fun-filled season begins this week! Coach Kylie, Missy and I have been super busy getting everything ready so that your kiddos will have the BEST summer swim experience to-date!
1: The revised SWIM/DIVE PRACTICE SCHEDULE is attached. I highly recommend going “old school” and printing it out and putting it up in your kitchen as a reference this season. More than just a practice schedule, this colorful document contains important upcoming dates, schedule change call-outs, meet dates and all coach/coordinator contact info. Please text Missy or Cara this week with any questions!
2: Inclement weather, what do we do? Practices are not mandatory, so never stress about staying home during unpleasant weather. However, if it is chilly, we will still have “dryland practice” which is a wonderful opportunity for your kiddos get even stronger via coach-led workouts on land, and it’s a great way to bond with teammates. If the weather is bad, keep an eye out for an email from us re: cancellations.
3: OMG… what should we wear? The first week, we know that not everyone will have a competition-style swim suit – AND THAT’S OKAY! This Friday at Time Trials, you can purchase a team suit for your kiddo, but until then, please just have them come in a fitted suit, (one-piece for girls) and trunks that won’t fall down for boys. Once the season starts rolling, boys will be required to wear “jammers” or “speedo-style” suit to all practices. (Floppy beach trunks impede swimmers and coaches are unable to see their kicking technique.) *If your suit purchased at Time Trials ends up not working out, you can return via mail if not worn in the pool. Additionally, I will post a link on our team website to purchase the suit directly from the vendor! They are local and you will get it fast.
4: Shall we accessorize? Same thing goes for swim caps the first week -- don't worry if you don't have one. *WE WILL PROVIDE EACH SWIMMER WITH ONE REDFIELD CAP (before the first meet so they don’t loose it.) We have a few spares… but not 118😊 This Friday at Time Trials, the onsite vendor will also have an assortment of accessories for purchase including caps, ear plugs, goggles, swim bags, chlorine shampoo, etc.
Moving forward, we’d like each swimmer to consider these items their UNIFORM every time they enter the pool: Swim cap (any cap for practices/ Redfield cap for meets), goggles and competition-style suit.
*We will also have a second vendor at Time Trials to take embroidery orders, if you desire.
5: Masks and parents at SWIM PRACTICES: Masks will be your family’s choice. Being that the kids will be outside, we will not be enforcing mask wearing. Additionally, parents may come to practices and watch. We simply ask that you don’t interrupt practice or pull coach/es attention away from the pool (safety reasons) -- let the coaches coach. Please stay positive, non-critical and always be uber aware of others around you/respect others desire to socially distance, if they choose. Side note: Kylie (head swim coach), Kate (asst swim coach), Cara and Missy are all vaccinated.
Can’t wait to see everyone this week! Go Sun Devils! Go Redfield!!
