HEAT SHEET & Meet Info
Auntie Rona overstayed her welcome and devastated our lives in 2020. In the spirit of community, friendship and hope – let’s embrace this gift we’ve been given – and make the BEST out of tonight. If there are any hiccups (which there will be), missed events (which there will be), disappointments for unknown reasons (which there will be)… please remember AS PARENTS to stay calm, positive and kind. Our kids will vibe off us tonight, so if we stay laisse faire… they will enjoy themselves. This is summer swim, NOT Dynamo or Swim Atlanta. It’s about developing a love for swimming, and that won’t happen if mom or dad is mad because nugget isn’t swimming 50free.
Embrace the night… and if you have any feedback… AWESOME!!!! Provide it to Kylie later in the week. She worked on the lineup for hours and hours, doing her absolute best to include parent notes while challenging our swimmers.
On the flipside, this is a sport and even though we are keeping it light, we always want to create a lineup that is competitive and gives up the best chance at a “win.” Remind your swimmer that the best way to move up into a relay – is to come to practice as much as possible, train hard, do dryland workouts at home and go into full “beast mode” during individual events at the meets to decrease times. Swimming is a pure sport. The fastest time gets the spot. Your child’s success is in their hands!
Items for tonight:
1: See attached Entry List and mark your child’s arm/thigh at home if you can with a black sharpie. How do I do that????? Photo attached. I marked my leg as Malou Welin. It goes: Event, Heat, Lane. Also, Medley Relay order is: 1: Back 2: Breast 3: Fly 4: Free. I also attached the Heat Sheet for the meet. Print this out and bring to the meet to follow along!!!
2: Warmups begin at 5pm – arrive at 4:30pm if you need someone else to mark your child’s arm. Meet will begin at 5:30pm.
3: When you arrive, come immediately to the Volunteer Check-in Table (unless you Paid-to-Play) and see Cary Phelps or Shelley Schlifkin for a lanyard and directions. *You can also pick up your child’s swim cap here. ONE SWIM CAP PER SWIMMER.
4: Bring CASH… and lots of it😊 for concessions tonight! You get the night off from making dinner because Tom Sheeran and Meagan Phillips have been working hard for weeks planning assortment of awesome items including: Pasta, pizza, hotdogs, chips, candy, drinks, sno cones, and soooo much more!
5: Toss a few folding chairs in your trunk just in case seating gets snatched up. Better safe than standing! With no opposing team in the grassy area, you can set up your chairs up there for a fantastic view of the meet!
6: NO PRACTICE TOMORROW 5/26 DUE TO DIVE MEET AT THE POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
