    GT - updated info!

Last GT email *hopefully*! Let's represent Redfield and have both our parent and swimmer sections RED OUT!!!! Red shirts, red shorts, you get the picture!!

*Print sheets are not available on-site; print at home if you want one!

    Day of Timeline

    • No later than 2:05pm Arrival: Meet on the FRONT lawn of Georgia Tech McCauley Student Rec Center to mark arms and take a team picture. *If you are getting a wristband, this is when you will get it!
      • Definitely add in a lot of buffer time to get to GT. It WILL take longer to get to GT than you think; something about GT lends itself to traffice delays every year.
    • 2:20 Walk in TOGETHER!!! This is done as a group!!!!!!
    • 2:55 Wam Up
    • 4:00pm Meet Starts All 6U races will be held at the BEGINNING of the meet!

    Day of Details

    • Parking: Again, traffic/parking will be crazy. We highly recommend carpooling, or consider taking MARTA or an UBER to keep your sanity:) Reserved parking is sold out! Overflow lot is W02 at 355 Ferst Drive (Student Center lot). Enter through Tech Parkway (follow detour signs), there is construction on Ferst Drive. You cannot prepay for parking in those lots. Directions and maps are also available on Championship - Atlanta Swim Association
    • Entry: Our team must enter the building together at 2:25. Georgia Tech now requires all spectators to go through security screening (metal detectors and bag screenings) to enter the Campus Recreation Center. Athletes will not have to go through this screening. No large coolers are permitted.
    • Swimmer section: We will be in the stands this year, in section 202, which is a swimmer only section. Please have your swimmer sit with the team. This is CRITICAL to ensuring that they make their events!
    • Parent seating: For those attending GT for the first time, parents sit (and are only allowed) in the upper stands. It is great if we call all sit together (and RED OUT)! Try to grab seats in the middle, between the two pools. This gives parents the best view of both the boys and girls pool.
      • Note: we will have a few extra wristbands to get adults on deck. They will first go to 6U parents first. Contact me if you want to get on our “next up” list.
    • Heat sheets will NOT be available on-site. If you want a printed heat sheet, print it at home!!!!! Athlete entry list and heat sheet is available on the Championship Website. Championship - Atlanta Swim Association (swimtopia.com)
      • Note: your swimmer’s events and heats will NOT be available on the SwimTopia app.
    • All 6U races will ALL be held at the beginning of the meet, so your child will remain in the pool area. Be sure to bring extra towels, sweatshirt, snuggie or something to keep them warm while they wait for their events. The pool is COLD and the littles turn into popsicles! Please note: we may keep this group on the pool deck between warm ups and their first event so be sure they have their towels when they go down!
    • Packing recommendations (in a bag):
      • Two towels and a sweatshirt (as a forewarning, the main pool is COLD)
      • Two goggles and cap (we have extra if needed!)
      • Water bottle/drink sweatshirt
      • Snacks. There is a healthy cafe next to the gym, but at least the last few years, it closes early and is primarily healthy options (great for us, bummer for the kids). I always pack my kids multiple snacks and some pasta or easy “dinner”. We’ll also have a few goodies for them:)
      • Electronic devices are discouraged due to the obvious wetness.
      • There is a cool down pool (which is actually a warm pool) kids can jump in after their swim to warm up; but please remind your kid that it is NOT a playground! It is meant for a couple laps and then they should sit in our section and cheer on/support their fellow Sun Devils!!
    • Need to carpool? Contact us if you need assistance. We have tons of cars with space ready to help you out!

Want more info? Visit Championship - Atlanta Swim Association (swimtopia.com): get directions, purchase professional photography for your swimmer if you want, see entry lists and psych sheets. What are psych sheets???? They show the “seeding” for each event in our session (which is Session 2, Wed @ 4pm.) I strongly recommend that you NOT share seeding with our child prior to the meet. We have many swimmers seeded to place VERY high and it can be VERY stressful if they think they have that pressure on them to win. Also they are NOT the heat sheet.

Questions? Concerns? Just want to talk? We’re here for you!!!
